Capacity and Runtime

  • Start from the watt-hours. A 100Ah LiFePO4 battery at 51.2 V stores 5.12 kWh, and that figure — not the amp-hour rating — is what you divide by the load you want to carry.
  • A worked example. Draw roughly 500 W continuously (a fridge cycling, some LED lights, a router, a laptop charger) and 5.12 kWh works out to about ten hours on paper. Inverter losses, cold weather and an incomplete charge all take a bite out of that, so plan for less.
  • Short bursts behave differently. A kettle, a microwave or a power tool pulls hard for a few minutes at a time, so count how many of those bursts you need in a day rather than assuming a steady trickle.
  • The label is only half the story. LiFePO4 battery 100Ah tells you capacity, not energy — at 12 V that is a very different pack from this 51.2 V unit, so compare on kWh or on nominal voltage.
  • Depth of discharge is already in the rating. You are not extending the pack's life by only ever using half of it, so plan around the whole figure rather than a cautious fraction of it.
  • Do the sum before you buy. Add the watts of your essentials, multiply by the hours you want them, and compare with 5.12 kWh. It is the same arithmetic you would use to size a bank of deep cycle batteries — there are simply fewer boxes involved here. If the numbers leave you with no margin, a larger unit in the range will serve you better than running this one flat every night.

Product Overview

A 51.2 V pack with 100 Ah of capacity puts a serious amount of stored energy into a cabinet you can move with two people and a trolley. This lifepo4 lithium battery holds 5.12 kWh, and an active balancer keeps the cells working together as they age, so the pack does not quietly lose the top of its range after a few seasons. There is nothing to water, no equalising routine and no separate balancer to mount on a wall — you run the DC cables to your inverter and the battery looks after itself from there.

Think of it as a battery storage power station for one building rather than a whole street: lights, a fridge, a router, a television, a medical device, the controls on a boiler. That is the job it was sized for, and it is the job it does well — an ordinary outage, a night off-grid, a day in a cabin with no connection. It is also the simplest way to learn how much storage you actually use before committing to a larger bank, because it can be paralleled later instead of replaced.

Cabins and off-grid cottages are the clearest fit: the pack runs lights, a compressor fridge, a router and device charging through the evening and refills from panels the next day. Van and RV conversions use it the same way, with the advantage that a rack cabinet can be strapped into a locker instead of being built into the furniture. Home offices, server cupboards, workshops and small shops use it as short-hold backup so a power cut stops the clocks rather than the work. A market stall, a site office or a field workshop gets the same benefit in a box that goes back in the van at the end of the day. It is also the sensible first purchase for anyone who is not yet sure how much storage they need. One cabinet covers a single room of essentials, and because the range is designed to be paralleled you can add matching units as your load grows rather than replacing what you already own. If the goal is a whole house running for several days, this is the wrong size — step up within the range instead of stretching a deep cycle lithium battery past the duty it was built for.

Battery Management and Monitoring

A lithium deep cycle battery is only as good as the board that looks after its cells, and this one is watched continuously: cell voltage, pack current and temperature are read the whole time the pack is in use. Charging is cut before any cell can be pushed past its limit, discharge is cut before the pack is taken too low, over-current and short circuits are interrupted, and thermal management keeps everything inside the operating window of −20 °C to 65 °C. The pack is built and tested against UN38.3, IEC62619 and RoHS.

The front panel tells you what you need at a glance — state of charge, alarm, run status and the communication indicators — with the controls built into the screen rather than sitting as loose buttons on the casing, which helps keep dust and damp out of the works. CAN and RS485 ports carry that information across to the inverter, and the inverter protocol is selected on the screen, so there is no extra communication box to mount on the wall. For a deep cycle lithium battery that may sit for weeks between visits, seeing a problem forming is worth more than another line on a datasheet.

Charging Options

  • Three ways in. Utility grid, generator, or a solar array through your charge controller — the pack accepts any of them, which is what makes it work on a site where the grid is unreliable rather than absent.
  • Grid charging for the ordinary case. Through a suitable charger on a wall circuit, the pack refills overnight; this is the routine for a cabin or workshop that has power most of the time.
  • Generator charging when the grid is the thing that failed. A modest generator plus a charger will top the pack up during a long outage, and because it is only 5.12 kWh you are not asking the generator to run for days.
  • Solar is where it earns its keep. Panels and an MPPT controller fill the pack through the day and it carries the evening loads — as a battery storage power station, the point is that the energy is already on site when you need it.
  • It holds its charge between visits. Standby draw is small enough that deep cycle battery storage in a seasonal property is still ready months later, instead of needing a rescue charge before the season starts.
  • Match the charger to the chemistry. A charger built around a lead-acid profile with a float stage is not the right match; most inverters that were set up for a bank of deep cycle batteries have a lithium setting you can switch to, and it is worth checking before anything is connected.

Installation and First Start

  1. Pick the position. Indoors, dry and ventilated, close enough to the inverter that the DC run stays short, and out of direct sun. Have the AC side and the final connection signed off by a qualified electrician working to your local code.
  2. Leave working room and fix it down. The cabinet has carry handles and mounting points, so two people can set it in place and bolt it down before any cable goes on.
  3. Land the DC cables in order. Isolator off, correct polarity on the red and black terminals, then torque each connection and give it a tug — a loose terminal is the most common cause of a hot joint.
  4. Introduce it to the inverter. Select the protocol on the front screen and confirm the pack is visible over CAN or RS485; if the inverter cannot see it, sort the communication out before charging.
  5. Do a first full charge and note what you see. That gives you a baseline for state of charge and alarm behaviour, and it proves the install before you rely on it.
  6. Treat the room as part of the system. Deep cycle battery storage lasts longest in a stable, dry space — a damp corner behind the garage will shorten the life of any pack, whatever the chemistry.
  7. Write it down. Date, protocol, settings, firmware. The next person to open the cabinet — you in two years, or an electrician — should not have to start from scratch with the deep cycle lithium battery.

Parallel Expansion

  1. Run one unit first. Live with it for a few weeks and note how low the pack gets on a normal day; that tells you whether a second 100ah lifepo4 battery is worth buying or whether you are already carrying more than you use.
  2. Decide the target. Up to 16 units can be paralleled, taking the bank to a maximum of 4,800 Ah / 240 kWh. Most homes stop far short of that, so pick the number you actually need rather than the ceiling.
  3. Buy a matching unit. A LiFePO4 battery 100Ah pack must match the existing bank in voltage, chemistry and model; mixing brands, ages or chemistries is how balance problems start.
  4. Equalise before you connect. Bring the new unit to roughly the same state of charge as the bank, then connect through the busbars and torque the terminals properly. A lithium deep cycle battery should never be tied to a bank sitting at a very different voltage.
  5. Set addresses and watch the first charge. Each unit in a parallel bank needs its own address so the monitoring reads the bank correctly, and the first charge after expansion is the moment to watch the display rather than walk away.
  6. Plan the space and the cable. Two cabinets need twice the floor area and heavier cabling — measure before ordering, because a second unit that will not fit is an expensive shelf ornament.

Ordering and Delivery

  • Lead time. Stock orders are processed in 3–7 days; custom orders take around 35 days.
  • Delivery. Swift delivery from local stock, with 3–7 days for shipping depending on your address.
  • Warranty. Every pack carries a 5-year warranty.
  • Tell us what it will run. Send the inverter make and model plus the appliances you want to keep alive, and we will confirm whether this 100ah lifepo4 battery is the right size or whether you should step up.
  • Plan a parallel bank before you order. Matching units bought together arrive with the same history, which makes the first balance straightforward; a lifepo4 lithium battery added much later can still be paralleled, but it takes more setting up.
  • Ask for the paperwork. The specification sheet, terminal layout and protocol list are available for your electrician.
  • Check the space, not just the spec. Measure the footprint, the height of the DC lugs and the cable bend radius before the cabinet arrives.

FAQ

Will 5.12 kWh run my whole house during a power cut?

No, and it is not built to. As a battery storage power station this pack is sized for the essentials — lighting, a fridge, a router, a television, medical equipment, boiler controls — for an ordinary outage or a night off-grid. Whole-home backup for several days needs a much larger bank, which is why the range continues up to 15 kWh and 16 kWh. What this size does well is carry a single room or a whole small building through the hours that matter, and let you measure your real consumption before you spend on more.

Will it work with the inverter I already have?

In most cases, yes — provided the inverter can be set to a lithium charge profile and can communicate over CAN or RS485. The pack lets you choose the inverter protocol on its front screen, so no extra communication hardware is needed. Inverters that were installed for a bank of deep cycle batteries and have no lithium setting are the exception; send us the make and model before ordering and we will tell you what it can and cannot do. If the inverter cannot see the pack after connection, fix the communication before charging rather than charging blind.

Can I add more capacity later?

Yes. Up to 16 units can be paralleled, which takes the bank to a maximum of 4,800 Ah / 240 kWh, and each cabinet is monitored as part of the same bank once its address is set. The practical rule is to add an identical unit — same voltage, same chemistry, same model — and to bring it to roughly the same state of charge before it is connected. This lifepo4 lithium battery is designed so that the second cabinet extends the first rather than replacing it.

Where should the battery be installed?

Indoors, dry and ventilated, out of direct sun, and close enough to the inverter that the DC cable run stays short. The rack cabinet has carry handles and mounting points, so it needs floor space plus clearance for cables and airflow rather than a shelf. Deep cycle battery storage performs well in a stable room: a damp shed or a spot next to a hot water cylinder will cost you life even though the pack is rated from −20 °C to 65 °C. Have the AC side and the final connection checked by a qualified electrician against your local code.

Is this the same kind of battery as the ones in your golf cart line?

They are both LiFePO4, but they are built for different duty. A golf cart pack is a traction battery — shaped to drop into a cart's battery bay and tuned for hard current on climbs. This is a stationary pack: 51.2 V, 5.12 kWh, rack-mounted, with CAN and RS485 so an inverter can read it and a front screen the household can understand. If you need to move a vehicle, take the golf cart line; if you need to keep a building running, this is the right lithium deep cycle battery for the job.

Is this a 12 V battery or a 51.2 V battery?

51.2 V nominal. The LiFePO4 battery 100Ah label describes capacity, not voltage — a 12 V, 100 Ah pack stores 1.28 kWh, a quarter of what this cabinet holds. Always match the pack to the DC bus of your inverter and check the nominal voltage on the label before you compare anything, because the amp-hour figure on its own tells you nothing about how long a load will run.
